The Doctor is in the house

He won't have his grad ceremony until May, but this is us at his college grad in 1990. Weren't we babies?
Today my guy had his dissertation defense, and has earned his Ph.D. in Education. It’s taken us 11 years, during which he’s had a full-time job the entire time. We’ve bought a house. We adopted our son. I’ve had 2 surgeries (before our son was 18 months old) during which my guy cared for me, our kid, and continued to work.
I could never had the determination and stubborness to see it through. But he did.
Here’s to you, honey. I love you.

Awesome. When my G earned his MBA, we had 3 kids, a mortgage, his full time job…I mean it’s a huge commitment on everyone’s part.
How proud you must be. And take a sec to pat yourself on the back for being the support.

Scooper: Thanks!
Lea: I found and scanned that pic recently. I remember it was about 100F, and we’d just been sitting in it for about 4 hours (our friend was in the previous ceremony.) We were so wilted and sunburned! But, I love it, was we were so happy.
Lisabea: I’m just proud fitting to burst. Man, I slept so hard, after. I think it was relief. Kudos, to you guys! It really is a team effort, isn’t it?
AmyC: LOL. Yeah, we’re old fogies. Actually, I was 24 in that pic, and he was 21, so I guess he was more of a baby than I was.
Kati: Thanks, Kati. He is. *g*

That’s so awesome! A PhD is such a long hard slog. And it really does take the support of the whole family unit. You should be proud of yourself as well as your DH.

Sula: Thanks! Even my son had to pitch in, learning he couldn’t interrupt when the office door was closed (writing was in progress.)

[...] Hope you all have a great week. Posting will be a little haphazard this week, as my guy’s graduation ceremonies (yes, we are actually attending THREE on Thursday and Friday!) and errands for Saturday’s graduation party will be keeping me completely crazed busy. However, I’m still proud to bursting of his accomplishment! [...]
