A few things coming down the pike (including Mercy Thompson news)

July 30, 2010 at 5:00 am 10 comments

This week I was trolling thru my author links, and came across a few things I’m really excited about! Most of them aren’t happening for a while, but I still love knowing what I can look forward to.

Maybe this TimeI totally missed that Jennifer Crusie is coming out with her first solo novel in 6 years! Maybe this Time will be released August 31, 2010.

I’ve been really looking forward to next week’s release of Erin McCarthy’s Hot Finish, Suzanne and Ryder’s story in the Fast Track series. While double checking Hot Finish‘s release date, I noticed that in 2011, Erin McCarthy will be releasing books 4 & 5 in the Fast Track series. They will be about Elec’s siblings, Eve and Evan.

Kristan Higgins just released All I Ever Wanted, but she also already has a title for her 2011 book release: My One and Only. I always love the titles and covers of her books. This title is no exception.

Earlier this year, I read Lori Armstrong’s No Mercy, the first in a new mystery series, and I absolutely loved it. I’ve been anxiously looking out for information that there will be another Mercy Gunderson book, and was so happy to see that  Mercy Kill, book 2 in the series, will be released January 11, 2011.

The Sookie Stackhouse CompanionA couple of other title announcements: Book 5 in Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series will be titled River Marked. And, Book 3 in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series is titled Archangel’s Consort. Both will be released January 25, 2011.

And, lastly, Charlaine Harris will be releasing The Sookie Stackhouse Companion. Aside from the usual trivia and background information usually contained in a series companion book, it will also have an original Southern Vampires novella. It will be released February 1, 2011.

ETA: OK, so I was doing my last minute formatting for this post, and while adding links, I came across this:

River Marked

As usual, cover artist Dan Dos Santos has outdone himself! Isn’t it gorgeous?

So, that’s what I dug up this week! Anything new that you want to share?

I’d given up hope that Crusie was ever going to release another solo book. :)

She’s not one of the usuals I check on. I’ve just been working my way (slowly) thru her solo backlist.

I’m not a fan of the new Mercy cover. I don’t like sexed up Mercy, although I’m sure sex with Adam is fantastic.

I just don’t think our girl would ever be caught dead in a tube top with her chi-chis hanging out. :)

I like the colors. Not typical cover color pallette.

Well, see, this can be an after-sexin’-Adam pic. ;-)

I always thought Moon Called was pretty sexy.

I agree the the colors in the MT cover are great but I think it looks like she has to go to the bathroom – call me crazy! lol I much prefer her leaning over a cars engine. :)

I’m very excited for the new Jennifer Crusie! …and the Erin McCarthy..and I just bought the new Higgins – can’t wait!

LOL! I like the mechanic cover, too.

I think I might wait for the audiobk for the Crusie to come in at the library. Her writing translates so well to audio. Like a rom comedy movie.

LOL! I agree. While I think the cover is gorgeous it’s not really Mercy attire. I don’t really understand the need to sexualize the covers, particularly of UF novels (I’m not talking about River Marked in particular but numerous UF books). Putting aside the marketing issue, why can’t a women be sexy in a singlet or t-shirt?

Great post, Renee :D I think a lot of people are anticipating the new JC. Hopefully, it’ll measure up :) I’m glad that she’s having a solo book.

Lots of nice updates from some favorite authors :D I knew Ms Singh would have a new Guild Hunter book, but didn’t know when. Not too long to wait :P

Very nice cover for the Mercy book… but I want Alpha & Omega!!! :P
